When I first started this illustration, I had no idea if I’d ever be able to finish it. But I loved this photo (taken during a trip to Venice in 2021) so much that I knew instantly I had to do something with it.
I started working on it in 2023 and only finished it last month. Sometimes (...often) an illustration needs room to breathe. I frequently got stuck on the sheer amount of detail and wasn't always sure which direction to take. Whenever that happened, I’d hit the ‘close’ button and let the piece rest—sometimes for months at a time. When the itch to create finally returned, I was able to look at it with fresh eyes (and new skills!) and I would know exactly how to move forward.
And now, it’s finally finished! My magnum opus ;) You wouldn't believe how many hours went into this, but it’s incredibly rewarding to complete something I’ve poured so much love and attention into.

The art prints are printed on Hahnemühle fine art paper (Photo Matt Fibre 200) with a specialty printer that uses 12 colors to create an immense range of color mixtures. Because of this combination, the printed colors are out of this world – seriously. They’re so bright and vivid even high quality camera’s don’t do them justice.
